Mets Lose to Braves 1-0 Due To Lack of Hitting And Costly Baserunning Mistakes

Mets RHP Jerad Eickhoff (Photo Credits to Robert Sabo) The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 1-0 tonight at Citi Field in the second game of a double-header and dropped their record to 37-30. RHP Jerad Eickhoff made his first start of the season and did a fine job with four scoreless innings. He gave up three hits and three walks with four strikeouts. RHP Miguel Castro came in next and gave up a solo homer to RF Ronald Acuna Jr in the top of the fifth inning. RHP Sean Reid-Foley followed with a scorless top of the sixth inning. RHP Trevor May threw a scoreless top of the seventh inning. The offense had only five hits and several costly base running errors. In the bottom of the second, 1B Pete Alonso was thrown out trying to advance to third base on a single by LF Dom Smith. In the bottom of the sixth, 2B Jose Peraza was thrown out going to third base on a ground-ball by Francisco Lindor. Lindor was then picked up thrown out on a caught stealing at second. The Mets next game is tomorrow night at home against the Braves at 7:10 p.m.
