Mets Rally To Beat Phillies 4-3 On Another Walk-Off Win In Bottom Of Ninth

Mets RHP Jacob deGrom (Photo Credits to MetsMerizedOnline.com) The New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies 4-3 this afternoon at Citi Field and improved their record to 40-32. RHP Jacob deGrom had a scoreless top of the first inning, but allowed a run after LF Andrew McCutchen singled, stole second and then gave up a RBI single to 2B Nick Maton. deGrom settled down for the new few innings until the top of the sixth when he loaded the bases and gave up a sacrifice fly to McCutchen and was taken out after the inning. His final line was 6 innings, 3 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk and five strikeouts. deGrom wasn't at his best with his command and location and it was his "worst" start of the year, but he found a way to battle through and keep his team in the game. LHP Aaron Loup followed with a scorleess top of the seventh inning. RHP Seth Lugo threw a scoreless top of the eighth inning. RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the top of the ninth inning and struggled with his command with a walk, stolen base, wild pitch and a sacrifice fly to Maton. In the bottom of the second, LF Dom Smith and catcher James McCann and then 2B Jose Peraza came through with a RBI double. The bats went quiet for the next few innings until the bottom of the seventh when CF Kevin Pillar hit a solo homer with one out to tie the game. In the bottom of the ninth, pinch-hitter Travis Blakenhorn led off and reached first on an error by 1B Rhys Hoskins, and then pinch-hitter Billy McKinney walked and Pillar hit an infield single to load the bases. 3B Luis Guillorme came up and drew a walk to bring in the tying run and after SS Francisco Lindor struck out, RF Michael Conforto hit a walk-off sacrifice fly. The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon at home against the Phillies at 1:10 p.m.
