Mets Beat Cubs 6-3 due to strong offense and solid pitching from Sean Reid-Foley

The New York Mets beat the Chicago Cubs 6-3 tonight at Citi Field for their second consecutive win and improved their record to 35-25.
The offense got on the board first in the bottom of the second after RF Billy McKinney drew a lead-off walk and then CF Kevin Pillar followed with a RBI double.
2B Luis Guillorme flew out and then catcher Tomas Nido struck out, but then RHP Jacob deGrom helped out his own cause with a RBI single for his sixth RBI of the season.
LF Dom Smith hit a solo homer in the bottom of the third.
In the bottom of the fourth, Guillorme drew a lead-off walk and then Nido singled and newly brought in reliever RHP Sean Reid-Foley walked to load the bases. Two batters later, SS Francisco Lindor walked to bring in a run.
Smith hit a RBI ground-out later in the inning.
Pillar added a solo homer in the bottom of the fifth.
RHP Jacob deGrom had another outstanding start with thee scoreless innings retiring all nine batters he faced. deGrom struck out eight of the nine hitters he faced and lowered his ERA to 0.54, but had to come out after the top of the third with shoulder soreness.
RHP Sean Reid-Foley followed and gave up one run in two innings in relief on a solo homer by 1B Anthony Rizzo.
Reid-Foley picked up his second win.
LHP Aaron Loup threw a scoreless top of the sixth inning.
RHP Miguel Castro then threw a scoreless top of the seventh inning.
RHP Trevor May had his best outing in a while with a scoreless top of the eighth inning striking out the side.
RHP Drew Smith came on in the top of the ninth inning, but had a diffucult outing allowing a one-out walk and then gave up a two-run homer to RF Rafael Ortega.
Drew Smith gave up a based-runner with two outs and was taken out for closer RHP Edwin Diaz.
Diaz was able to come in and get the last out on a fly-out to CF Mason Williams and picked up his 14th save.
The Mets next game is tomororw night at home against the Cubs at 7:10 p.m.
