The New York Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds 6-1 tonight for their fourth consecutive win and improved their record to 63-79. Catcher Kevin Plawecki drove in the first two runs of the game with a two-run homer in the bottom of the second inning. 1B Dominic Smith hit a RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning. RF Nori Aoki hit a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning. 3B Asdrubal Cabrera followed with a RBI double.
RHP Rafael Montero had a solid start and was able to get out of several jams despite having a lot of traffic on the basepaths. Montero allowed one run on five hits in five innings. He gave up five walks and had five strikeouts. Montero picked up his fifth win of the season. RHP Chasen Bradford came in next and pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings. LHP Josh Smoker retired the only batter he faced to end the top of the seventh inning. RHP Jeurys Familia pitched a scoreless top of the eighth inning. Rookie RHP Jamie Callahan pitched a scoreless top of the ninth inning.
