Mets Call Up Tomas Nido

The New York Mets announced today that they are calling up catching prospect Tomas Nido from Double-A Binghamton. Nido struggled offensively this year hitting .232 with eight home runs and 60 RBI's. He did better defensively throwing out 45 % of possible base-stealers and giving up six passed balls in 102 games. Last year, Nido hit .320 with seven homers in 90 games for Single-A St. Lucie. It will be interesting to see how Nido fits into the Mets plans with catchers Travis d'Arnaud and Kevin Plawecki hitting well in September since he considered to be the catcher of the future.
