The New York Mets lost to the Chicago Cubs 17-5 last night for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record to 63-82. RHP Matt Harvey made his third start since coming off the DL and had another difficult outing. Harvey gave up five runs on seven hits in 3 1/3 innings. He allowed four walks and had two strikeouts. Harvey left with the based loaded and one out in the bottom of the fourth inning. RHP Hansel Robles came in next and gave up three inherited runs that were charged to Harvey in the bottom of the fourth inning. Robles came back for the bottom of the fifth inning and pitched a scoreless inning. RHP Chasen Bradford followed and gave up four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. RHP Kevin McGowan gave up a run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Rookie RHP Jacob Rhyme gave up five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Rookie RHP RHP Jamie Callahan gave up two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.
2B Jose Reyes got the Mets offense off to a fast start with a lead-off homer in the top of the first inning. Harvey drove in a run in the top of the second inning with a sacrifice bunt. SS Amed Rosario scored on a passed ball in the top of the eighth inning. 1B Dominic Smith added a two-run homer in the top of the eighth inning.
