The New York Mets lost to the Houston Astros 4-1 last night in the second game of their doubleheader and dropped their record to 58-77. RHP Seth Lugo started out well with five scoreless innings and giving up five walks and one walk. It all fell apart for Lugo in the bottom of the sixth inning after he gave up two runs on three hits and a walk. Lugo gave up four runs on eight hits in five innings and gave up two walks with six strikeouts. He was unable to get an out in the inning and left with runners on first and third. RHP Hansel Robles came in next and gave an RBI ground-out and a sacrifice fly, but both runs were charged to Lugo. Robles came back out for the bottom of the seventh inning and pitched a scoreless inning. LHP Jerry Blevins followed and was able to record the first two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning. RHP Chasen Bradford got the last out in the inning.
The Mets offense struggled all night against Astros pitching and managed just six hits and one walk and one run. 1B Dominc Smith drove home the only run of the game with a RBI double in the top of the sixth inning.
Injury News:
Wilmer Flores left the game in the top of the fourth inning after taking a foul ball off his nose. X- rays later revealed he had a broken nose.
