Mets vs. Phillies Game 137 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 11-7 this afternoon and improved their record to 59-78. CF Juan Lagares drove home the first run of the game with an RBI single in the bottom of the second inning. SS Jose Reyes hit a solo homer in the bottom of third inning. 3B Asdrubal Cabrera hit a two-run homer two batters later.  In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Mets offense broke the game open with six runs. 2B Gavin Cecchini hit a two-run single. Jose Reyes hit a RBI single.  RF Nori Aoki followed with a RBI ground-out. Reyes came around to score on a wild pitch. LF Brandon Nimmo capped off the inning with an RBI single. Nimmo hit another RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning.

RHP Rafael Montero started out well allowing one run in the first four innings, but faded in the top of the fifth and sixth innings. He was unable to finish the top of the sixth inning and recorded one out. Montero allowed four runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings. He gave up five walks and had three strikeouts. Montero managed to pick up his fourth win of the season.  RHP Paul Sewald came in next and allowed a run before getting the last two outs in the top of the sixth inning. LHP Jerry Blevins pitched a scoreless top of the seventh inning. RHP Hansel Robles had a difficult outing allowing two runs in 1 2/3 innings pitched. RHP A.J. Ramos had to come in the top of the ninth inning and got the last out of the game.
