The New York Mets lost to the Chicago Cubs 8-3 tonight and dropped their record to 63-81. RHP Robert Gsellman had a difficult outing allowing four runs in four innings with 93 pitches. He gave up five hits with five walks and four strikeouts. LHP Tommy Millone came in next and gave up a solo homer to LF Kyle Scwarber. Rookie RHP Jacob Rhame gave up an RBI single to 2B Ben Zoborist in the bottom of the sixth inning. LHP Josh Smoker gave up a solo homer to CF Ian Happ in the bottom of the seventh inning. Rookie RHP Chris Flexen gave up a sacrifice fly to 3B Kris Bryant in the bottom of the eighth inning.
RF Taylor Taijeron drove in the first run of the game with a RBI ground-out in the top of the fourth inning. Catcher Travis d'Arnaud hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning. LF Nori Aoki hit a RBI ground-out in the top of the ninth inning.
