The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves 5-1 today for their second consecutive win and improved their record to 65-84. 2B Jose Reyes drove in the first run of the game with an RBI triple in the top of the first inning. SS Amed Rosario drove in the second run of the first inning after he grounded into a fielder's choice. The Mets offense was scoreless for the next eight innings, but broke the game open with three runs in the top of the ninth inning. Rookie 3B Phillip Evans hit a RBI double, which was the first RBI of his career. Pinch-hitter Asdrubal Cabrera followed with a two-run homer.
RHP Robert Gsellman had an outstanding start allowed one unearned run on three hits in seven innings. He had three strikeouts and no walks. Gsellman picked up his seventh win of the year. LHP Jerry Blevins followed with a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning. RHP A.J. Ramos closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning.
