Mets vs. Cubs Game 92 Recap

The New York Mets lost to the Chicago Cubs tonight 5-1 to drop their record to 49-43. They are now 6.5 behind the Washington Nationals for first place in the National League East and have dropped to third place behind the Florida Marlins. LHP Steven Matz took the loss after allowing 4 runs in just 5 innings. He allowed 8 hits and 1 walk. He had 5 strikeouts. With the loss, Matz's record is now 7-6. He has now lost his last 5 decisions after starting off the season 7-1. RHP Erik Goedell gave up an unearned run in the bottom of the eighth inning on an error by LF Yoenis Cespedes.

The only run the Mets offense scored was on a solo homer by 1B Wilmer Flores.
