The New York Mets lost to the Colarado Rockies 2-1 yesterday to drop their third consecutive game and drop their record to 53-48. They are now 6.5 games behind the Washington Nationals for first place in the National League East. RHP Jeurys Familia gave up 2 runs in the top of the ninth inning to blow his second consecutive game. It's clear that Familia needs some days off. His command isn't nearly as sharp as it was early in the season. RHP Jacob deGrom pitched 6 shutout innings. RHP Hansel Robles got the first 2 outs in the seventh inning. LHP Jerry Blevins got the last out in the seventh. RHP Addison Reed pitched a scoreless eighth.
The Mets offense struggled once again and was unable to get a timely hit with runners in scoring position. They had the based loaded with no one in the bottom of the seventh inning, but were unable to score. The only run they scored was on an RBI double by catcher Rene Rivera.
