The New York Mets lost to the Washington Nationals 3-1 last night to drop their record to 46-38. They are now 4 games out of first place in the National League East. RHP Noah Syndergarrd took the loss after he allowed 3 runs on 3 hits, 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. He was taken out after 4 2/3 innings due to arm fatigue. He will most likely now not pitch in the All-Star game on Tuesday. Hopefully this isn't anything serious and Syndergarrd won't have to miss too many starts. He was taken our early because he had a large drop in velocity and was only throwing 91 mph.
The Mets offense struggled against RHP Stephen Strasburg and managed just two runs. The only run they scored was on a home run by SS Asdrubal Cabrera.
