Mets Shutout By Athletics 4-0 As Offense Struggles Continue

The New York Mets lost to the Athletics 4-0 tonight at Citi Field for their third consecutive loss and dropped their record to 7-7. 

RHP Clay Holmes started out well with two scoreless innings and then gave up a RBI single to catcher Shea Langeliers in the top of the  third.

Holmes was able to settle down with a scoreless top of the fourth and a scoreless top of the fifth. Holmes came out with one out in the top of the sixth with left hamstring tightness.

RHP Tobias Myers came in next and started out well retiring eight hitters in a row going into the top of the ninth before allowing a single to SS Jacob Wilson who advanced to second on an error by LF Carson Benge.

Myers gave up a RBI single to the following hitter former 2B Jeff McNeil. Myers then gave up a double to 3B Max Muncy and a two-run single to CF Denzel Clarke.

The Met offense was flat once again and have not scored in the last 17 innings. They went 0-3 with runners in scoring position leaving six runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, April 11 at home against the Athletics at 4:10 p.m.
