The New York Mets lost to the Chicago Cubs 4-2 at Wrigley Field this afternoon for their tenth consecutive loss and dropped their record to 7-14.

RHP Freddy Peralta had a scoreless bottom of the first and then gave up a solo homer to LF Ian Happ in the bottom of the second. Peralta pitched well after that and retired the first two hitters he faced in the bottom of the sixth and then gave up back-to-back walks and was taken out.

LHP Brooks Raley came in next and gave up a three-homer to pinch-hitter Carson Kelly who was pinch hit for DH Moises Ballesteros.

RHP Luke Weaver had to come in to get the two outs in the bottom of the seventh.

RHP Craig Kimbrel followed and threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

After a scoreless top of the first, 1B Mark Vientos drove in the first run of the game with a solo homer in the top of the second.

The Met offense did not do much for next six innings until they started to come alive in the top of the eighth after 3B Bo Bichette and SS Francisco Lindor reached first with infield singles.

CF Luis Robert  Jr then reached first after a fielder's choice. D.H. M.J. Melendez followed with a struck out, but catcher Francisco Alvarez was able to reach first after 2B Nico Hoerner made a poor throw to pull first baseman Michael Busch off the bag to allow a run to score. However Vinetos grounded out to end the threat.

In the top of the ninth, pinch-hitter Tommy Pham and 2B Marcus Semian struck out and then pinch-hitter Tyrone Taylor flew out to end the game.

The Mets offense inability to hit with men on base continued after they went 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, April 19 at the Cubs at 2:20 p.m.
