Mets RHP Freddy Peralta had a scoreless top of the first, but made a defensive blunder in the top of the second throwing the ball to first which allowed the runner to advance to third. Peralta was charged with two unearned runs in the inning.
Peralta gave up an earned run in the top of the third on a RBI single by SS C.J. Abrams.
Peralta was able to settle down after that with scoreless innings in the top of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
His final line was six innings, four hits, three runs, one earned run, three walks and six strikeouts.
LHP Brooks Raley followed with a scoreless top of the seventh.
RHP Luke Weaver came on in the top of the eighth and gave up a two-run homer to Abrams.
RHP Devin Williams threw a scoreless top of the ninth.
The Met offense was held scoreless for the first two innings until LF M.J. Melendez hit a game-tying three-run homer in the bottom of the third.
In the bottom of the sixth, DH Juan Soto walked and then 1B Mark Vientos followed with a RBI double.
The Met offense's struggles with men on base continued after they went 2-10 with runners in scoring position leaving five runners on base.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Friday, May 1 at the Los Angeles Angels at 9:38 p.m.
