After a scoreless top of the first, CF Luis Robert Jr singled to lead off the top of the second and then LF Jared Young followed with a single and then 1B Mark Vientos drove in Robert Jr with a RBI single.
The Mets offense did not much else after that for the next five innings against Giants RHP Logan Webb, but then came alive in the top of the eighth.
DH Jorge Polanco doubled with one out and was replaced by pinch-runner Tyrone Taylor. Robert Jr then singled to advance Taylor to third base and stole second.
Catcher Luis Torrens came up next after he pinch-hit for Jared Young and it paid off in a huge way after Torrens delivered the game-winning two-run double.
1B Mark Vientos followed by reaching an infield hit and Torrens came around to score on a throwing error by 3B Matt Chapman which allowed Vientos to advance to second.
2B Marcus Semian then followed by driving in Vientos with a RBI double.
RHP Kodai Senga dominated through the first five innings striking out two hitters in the bottom of first and striking out the side in the second and allowed only two singles through five, but then tired in the bottom of the sixth.
Senga gave up a lead-off infield hit to catcher Patrick Bailey and after retiring the next two hitters, gave up game-tying RBI double to Chapman. Senga then gave up a RBI single to 1B Rafael Devers and was taken out. Senga's final line was 5.2 innings, five hits, two runs, two walks and seven strikeouts.
RHP Huascar Brazoban came in next and picked up last out in the bottom of the sixth and then threw a scoreless bottom of the seventh. Brazoban picked up his first win of the season.
RHP Luke Weaver followed with a scoreless bottom of the eighth.
RHP Devin Williams closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the ninth and picked up his second save.
The Mets are off tomorrow and return back home on Tuesday, April 7 against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Citi Field at 7:10 p.m.
