It got worse for Senga in the top of the third after he gave up a two-run homer to LF Tyler Soderstrom and later in the inning, a three-run homer to DH Carlos Cortes and was then taken out.
Senga's final line was 2.1 innings, eight hits, seven runs, two walks and three strikeouts. It was the first time in his career he has allowed a three-run homer and the first time he has allowed seven earned runs. He only threw first pitch strikes to 5 of the 17 hitters he faced.
RHP Huascar Brazoban came in next and threw 2.2 scoreless innings.
LHP Brooks Raley threw a scoreless top of the sixth.
New Met reliever RHP Craig Kimbrel came in next and threw a scoreless top of the seventh.
RHP Luke Weaver came on in the top of the eighth and had a rough outing of his own allowing a RBI single to catcher Shea Langeliers and a three-run homer to Soderstrom.
RHP Luis Garcia followed in the top of the ninth and threw a scoreless inning.
In the bottom of the first, CF Luis Robert Jr singled with one out and two batters later, 3B Bo Bichette drove in Robert Jr with a RBI single.
The Met offense was held scoreless for the next three innings until the bottom of the fifth after SS Francisco Lindor led off with a single and three batters later, Bichette came through once again with a two-run homer.
In the bottom of the sixth, catcher Francisco Alvarez led off with a homer and then LF Carson Benge followed with a walk. 2B Marcus Semien then singled to advance Benge to third and pinch-hitter Brett Baty followed by driving in Benge with a sacrifice fly.
In the bottom of the seventh, DH Jorge Polanco led off with a homer and then Bichette followed with a walk and two batters later, Alvarez singled. However, Benge and Semian flew out to end the threat.
The offense was unable to generate any more threats after that and struggled with getting a timely hit going 1-6 with runners in scoring position leaving eight runners on base.
The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, April 12 at home against the Athletics at 1:40 p.m.
