Mets Sweep White Sox 2-0 With Stellar Start From Manaea

The New York Mets beat the Chicago White Sox 2-0 this afternoon at Guaranteed Rate Field to sweep the three-game series and fourth consecutive win overall to improve their record to 73-64.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first three innings against LHP Garrett Crochet until the top of the fourth after SS Francisco Lindor hit a solo homer for his 29th homer and 80th RBI of the season.

The offense did not do much until the top of the ninth after J.D. Martinez walked with two outs and then RF Starling Marte followed with a RBI double.

LHP Sean Manaea continued his dominant stretch with seven scoreless innings.

He gave up two hits and two walks with five strikeouts.

Manaea had excellent command of his slider, fastball and change-up.

 He picked up his 11th win and lowered his ERA to 3.35.

RHP Reed Garrett followed with a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the bottom of the ninth and had a dominating performance striking out the side on 14 pitches to pick up his 16th save of the season.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Monday, September 2 back at home against the Boston Red Sox at 7:10 p.m.
