The Mets offense was held hitless for the first four innings against RHP Aaron Nola and then alive in the top of the fifth.
2B Jose Iglesias led off with a single and then RF Tyrone Taylor followed with a single.
Catcher Francisco Alvarez then broke the scoreless tie with a towering three-run homer.
Two batters later, SS Francisco Lindor singled and then 3B Mark Vientos followed with a single.
LF Brandon Nimmo came up next and broke the open with a three-run homer.
In the top of the sixth, CF Harrison Bader doubled with two outs and then Lindor followed with a RBI single.
In the top of the eighth, D.H. Jesse Winker led off with a single and three batters later, Alvarez singled.
Bader came up next and blasted a three-run homer.
In the top of the ninth, 1B Pete Alonso capped off the scoring with a solo homer.
LHP Jose Quintana had an outstanding start with seven scoreless innings.
He gave up three hits with no walks and four strikeouts.
Quintana had all his pitches working and mixed in his fastball, curveball, and change-up well.
He picked up his ninth win and lowered his ERA to 3.91.
RHP Phil Maton followed with a scoreless bottom of the eighth.
LHP Alex Young gave up a three-run homer to RF Brandon Marsh in the bottom of the ninth, but was able to get the last three outs.
The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, September 14 at the Phillies at 4:05 p.m.
