The New York Mets beat the Boston Red Sox 4-1 tonight at Citi Field for their fifth consecutive win and improved their record to 74-64.

In the bottom of the third, SS Francisco Lindor singled with one out and then CF Brandon Nimmo followed with a RBI double.

In the bottom of the fourth, LF D.J. Stewart singled with one out and then catcher Luis Torrens followed with a RBI double.

Lindor then hit a RBI single.

RHP Luis Severino cruised through the first two innings and then gave up a triple to CF Ceddanne Rafaela and a RBI single to the following hitter LF Jarren Duran.

Severino was able to settle down after that and had a 1-2-3 top of the fourth and was able to get a double play in the top of the fifth.

Severino worked his way out of a jam in the top of the sixth and then after a lead-off walk retired the last three hitters he faced and was then taken out.

His final line was seven innings, six hits, one run, two walks and five strikeouts.

Severino had sharp command of his slider in particular with a 53 percent called strike-whiff rate.

He picked up his 10th win and lowered his ERA to 3.84.
