The New York Mets lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 6-4 this afternoon at Citizens Bank Park to snap their two-game winning streak and dropped their record to 81-67.

RHP Luis Severino started out well with three scoreless innings and then gave up a solo homer to 1B Bryce Harper in the bottom of the fourth.

Severino had a scoreless bottom of the fifth and then in the bottom of the sixth, with two outs, walked SS Trea Turner and then gave up another homer to Harper, this time a two-run shot and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was six innings, three hits, one walk and five strikeouts.

LHP Danny Young came in next in the bottom of the seventh and allowed his first two hitters to reach  base before and came back out after a sacrifice bunt.

RHP Reed Garrett came in next and struck out 3B Weston Wilson for the second out, but then gave up a two-run double to CF Cal Stevenson.

RHP Ryne Stanek followed in the bottom of the eighth and gave up a RBI double to catcher J.T. Realmuto.

The Met offense got on the board immediately in the top of the first after 2B Jose Iglesias led off with a single and then later in the inning, 1B Pete Alonso and D.H. J.D. Martinez walked to load the bases.

RF Starling Marte then drove in a run with a walk.

In the top of the third, 3B Mark Vientos led off with a double and LF Brandon Nimmo followed with a single.

Vientos then scored on a throwing error by 3B Kody Clemens.

Marte followed with a two-run triple, but catcher Francisco Alvarez struck out and CF Harrison Bader flew out to end the inning.

The offense did not score any more runs after that and Martinez was robbed of a game-tying homer in the top of the eighth on an outstanding catch by Stevenson.

They went 2-9 with runners in scoring position leaving eight runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, September 15 at the Phillies at 1:35 p.m.
