The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 6-3 tonight for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record to 9-6. RHP Jacob deGrom had his another rough outing after he struggled on Tuesday against the Minnesota Twins. deGrom had a scoreless bottom of the first inning, but gave up a solo homer to RF Nick Markakis in the bottom of the second inning. In the bottom of the third inning, he gave up another run on an RBI single by LF Ronald Acuna Jr. He had a scoreless bottom of the fourth inning, but gave up a solo homer to 3B Josh Donaldson in the bottom of the fifth inning and was taken out after throwing 115 pitches. His final line was three runs on five hits with four walks and nine strikeouts. deGrom's velocity was there, but he was missing with his command. It's alarming, but hopefully he can improve in his next start. LHP Justin Wilson came in next in the bottom of the sixth inning and gave up a two-run homer to pinch-hitter Charlie Culverson. RHP Jeurys Familia gave up a RBI triple to Donaldson after previously allowing a triple to lead-off hitter to 2B Ozzie Albies.
3B J.D. Davis drove in the first run of the game with a solo homer in the top of the second inning. The bats went quiet until the top of the eighth inning after catcher Wilson and LF Jeff McNeil singled and SS Amed Rosario drove in a run on an infield single. CF Keon Broxton later drove in McNeil with an RBI single. LF Brandon Nimmo struck out with two runners on to end the threat in the eighth.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night at 7:00 in Philadelphia against the Phillies.
