The New York Mets defeated the Texas Rangers 5-4 tonight to snap their four-game losing streak and improved their record to 50-60. CF Michael Conforto got the offense off to a quick start with a lead-off homer in the bottom of the first inning. Three batters later, LF Yoenis Cespedes also hit a solo homer. Catcher Travis d'Arnaud hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the second inning. SS Asdrubal Cabrera added a RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning.
RHP Chris Flexen made his third start of his career and had his best outing. Flexen allowed three runs on four hits in 5 2./3 innings. He had four strikeouts and three walks. Flexen picked up his first win and also had his first hit on a double in the bottom of the fourth inning. RHP Erik Goedell came in next after Flexen was taken out and allowed a RBI double to 1B Joey Gallo, but was able to get out of the top of the sixth inning. Goedell got the first out in the top of the seventh inning and LHP Jerry Blevins was able to get the last two outs in the seventh. Blevins stayed in for the top of the eighth and pitched a scoreless innings. RHP A.J. Ramos allowed a run in the top of the ninth inning, but still managed to pick up his first save as a Met.
