The New York Mets defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-2 tonight to snap their three-game losing streak and improve their record to 55-70. RHP Chris Flexen made his seventh career Major League start and had the longest outing of his young career and first quality start. Flexen allowed two runs on six hits in six innings. He gave up four walk as well as having a career-high five strikeouts. Flexen picked up his third Major win. LHP Jerry Blevins came in next in the top of the seventh inning and and got one out. RHP Paul Sewald followed and was able to finish off the seventh after getting the last two outs and then pitched a scoreless top of the eighth inning. RHP A.J. Ramos pitched a scoreless top of the ninth inning and recorded his 23th save and third as a Met.
The Mets offense got off to a fast start after RF Michael Conforto hit a RBI single in the top of the first inning. SS Amed Rosario hit a RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning. Conforto hit another RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning for his second RBI of the game. 1B Dominic Smith hit a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth inning.
