The New York Mets announced that they have received RHP Jacob Rhame from the Dodgers as the player to be named later in the Curtis Granderson trade. Rhame has pitched in 41 games for the Dodgers Triple-A affiliate in Oklahoma City with a 0-2 record and a 4.31 ERA. He is ranked as the Dodgers 28th best prospect. Rhame's best pitch is his fastball which he can throw from 94-98 mph and can dial it up to 100 mph. His fastball not only has a lot of velocity, but also has a life to it which helps create deception. Other than his fastball, Rhame doesn't have a strong secondary pitch. His slider is considered flat and has had trouble developing a splitter. He will need to rely on his fastball to his success in the Major Leagues.
Hopefully Rhame will be able to help out in the Mets bullpen in the years to come. All of these trades that GM Sandy Alderson have a similar theme in hopes of rebuilding the bullpen for next year.
