The New York Mets lost to the New York Yankees 7-5 tonight for their fourth consecutive loss and dropped their record to 53-66. LHP Steven Matz had another rough start and got into immediate trouble in the top of the first inning after giving up a three-run homer to catcher Gary Sanchez in the top of the first inning. Matz allowed seven runs (six earned) on seven hits in 3 1/3 innings. He gave up two walks and had four strikeouts. RHP Chasen Bradford came in next and pitched 2.2 scoreless innings. RHP Hansel Robles pitched a scoreless top of the eighth inning. RHP A.J. Ramos pitched a scoreless top of the ninth inning.
The Mets offense struggled against Yankees starter RHP Luis Severino and scored only one unearned run after RF Aaron Judge made an error in the bottom of the seventh inning. RF Curtis Granderson hit a grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning.
