The New York Mets lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 3-1 tonight to snap their two-game winning streak and dropped their record to 52-62. RHP Steven Matz didn't have his best stuff, but had his longest outing since July 3. Matz allowed two runs on four hits in 5 2/3 innings. He gave up two walks and had one strikeout. RHP Chasen Bradford came in next and was able to get the last out in the bottom of the sixth inning and pitch a scoreless bottom of the seventh inning. RHP Erik Goedell followed and allowed a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning.
The Mets offense struggled against Phillies starter RHP Aaron Nola and had only three hits. LF Yoenis Cespedes drove home the only run of the game with a solo homer in the top of the fourth inning. SS Amed Rosario and 3B Asdrubal Cabrera had the other two hits.
