Mets Trade Neil Walker To Brewers

The New York Mets have traded 2B Neil Walker and cash to the Milwaukee Brewers for a player to be named later in return. Walker hit .264 with 10 homers and 36 RBI's in 73 games this year, despite playing with a hamstring injury. Last year, he hit .282 with 23 homers and 55 RBI's. This trade along with trading 1B Lucas Duda and RF Jay Bruce show that GM Sandy Alderson is trying to emphasize giving the younger players a shot, which is the right move to do in a lost season. Now that Walker is gone, hopefully infielder Gavin Cecchini will be called up from Triple-A Las Vegas and be given an opportunity to see what he can do.
