Mets Acquire Jacob Rhame Fom Dodgers
The New York Mets announced that they have received RHP Jacob Rhame from the Dodgers as the player to be named later in the Curtis Granderson trade. Rhame has pitched in 41 games for the Dodgers Triple-A affiliate in Oklahoma City with a 0-2 record and a 4.31 ERA. He is ranked as the Dodgers 28th best prospect. Rhame's best pitch is his fastball which he can throw from 94-98 mph and can dial it up to 100 mph. His fastball not only has a lot of velocity, but also has a life to it which helps create deception. Other than his fastball, Rhame doesn't have a strong secondary pitch. His slider is considered flat and has had trouble developing a splitter. He will need to rely on his fastball to his success in the Major Leagues.
Hopefully Rhame will be able to help out in the Mets bullpen in the years to come. All of these trades that GM Sandy Alderson have a similar theme in hopes of rebuilding the bullpen for next year.

He has become a very popular player here in New York for his exceptional play on the field and his positive attitude and work in the community off the field and won the Roberto Clemente Award last year. I wish Granderson all the best with Dodgers and I would love to see earn a World Series ring. He was a wonderful Met for the last four year who gave everything he had each and every day. I loved his attitude and how he was always engaging with the fans and media. I will miss Grandy, but he sure gave me so many amazing memories to look back on and remember fondly.

Walker hit .264 with 10 homers and 36 RBI's in 73 games this year, despite playing with a hamstring injury. Last year, he hit .282 with 23 homers and 55 RBI's. This trade along with trading 1B Lucas Duda and RF Jay Bruce show that GM Sandy Alderson is trying to emphasize giving the younger players a shot, which is the right move to do in a lost season. Now that Walker is gone, hopefully infielder Gavin Cecchini will be called up from Triple-A Las Vegas and be given an opportunity to see what he can do.

Mets Trade Jay Bruce To Indians
The New York Mets have traded RF Jay Bruce to the Cleveland Indians for minor league relief pitcher Ryder Ryan. In addition to acquiring Bruce, the Indians will be taking on all of Bruce's remaining salary of $3.7 million. Ryan was a 30th round pick out of the University of North Carolina for the Tribe in last year's draft. He has thrown 41.1 innings for the Indians Single-A Affiliate and had a 4.79 ERA, a strikeout rate of 10.7 K/9 and a walk rate of 3.7 BB/9.
I'm not surprised Bruce was traded, but I was hoping for a better return. I still hope he is brought back in the off season. I'm not sure why teams are reluctant to trade for him when he has almost thirty homers. I do understand where Sandy Alderson is coming from and that he is trying to rebuild the bullpen with young arms. Hopefully Ryan will become a key part of the Mets bullpen in a few years.
