The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals 5-1 today to snap their three-game losing streak and improve their record to 31-37. RHP Jacob deGrom had another outstanding start after pitching a complete game in his last start. deGrom allowed 1 run (0 earned) on three hits in eight innings. He gave two walks and had six strikeouts. He picked up his 6th win of the season. RHP Addison Reed pitched a scoreless top of the ninth inning.
In addition to deGrom's success on the mound, he also hit a solo homer in the bottom of the second inning, the first of his career. CF Michael Conforto had 2 RBI's after reaching on an infield single in the bottom of the fourth and hitting an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth. Catcher Travis d'Arnaud hit a RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning. LF Curtis Granderson added a RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning.
