The New York Mets defeated the San Francisco Giants 11-4 last night to snap their four-game losing streak and improve their record to 32-41. The Mets offense exploded for 11 runs on 20 hits. LF Yoenis Cespdes led the way with 3 RBI's. Cespedes hit a two-run homer in the top of the second inning and a RBI double in the top of the sixth. 3B Wilmer Flores added 2 RBI's on a RBI single in the top of the first inning and a sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning. CF Michael Conforto also had 2 RBI's on a RBI double in the top of the second and a RBI single in the top of the sixth. 1B Lucas Duda hit a solo homer in the top of the seventh. Catcher Travis d'Arnaud hit a RBI double in the top of the second. RF Curtis Granderson hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning. RHP Seth Lugo added a RBI double in the top of the second inning.
In addition to Lugo's success at the plate, he had a decent start allowed four runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings. He gave up three walks and had two strikeouts. Lugo picked up his second win. RHP Paul Sewald followed and got the last out in the bottom of the sixth. LHP Jerry Blevins pitched a scoreless bottom of the seventh inning. RHP Erik Goedell pitched a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning. RHP Addison Reed pitched a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning.
