The New York Mets lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates 12-7 tonight for their third consecutive loss and dropped their record to 23-30. RHP Matt Harvey got the start and was unable to gain command on any of his pitches. Harvey allowed six runs on five hits in 5 innings. He gave up four walks and had five strikeouts. Harvey was unable to get out of the top of the sixth inning and allowed a solo home run to 1B Josh Bell to lead off the inning and then walked CF Andrew Mccutchen. After Harvey was taken out, RHP Paul Sewald came in next and allowed a three-run homer to catcher Elias Dias. Sewald also allowed a RBI double to Josh Harrison and gave up a based loaded walk. RHP Neil Rameriez came in next and allowed a sacrifice fly to Andrew Mccutchen in the top of the seventh. Ramariez stayed in for the top of the eighth and allowed a solo homer to Harrison. LHP Josh Smoker pitched a scoreless top of the ninth inning.
The Mets offense was led by 1B Lucas Duda who hit two homers and had 3 RBI's. Duda hit a 2 run homer in the bottom of the second and a solo homer in the bottom of the fifth. LF Michael Conforto also hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth. 2B Neil Walker added a RBI triple in the bottom of the fifth and later scored on a wild pitch.
