The New York Mets lost to the Milwaukee Brewers 2-1 to split their four game series and drop their record to 23-29. RHP Zack Wheeler had a strong start and was able to go into the seventh inning. Wheeler allowed two runs on six hits in 6 1/3 innings. He gave up one walk and had six strikeouts. Wheeler has come a long way after missing the last two seasons from Tommy John Surgery and has had six consecutive starts of allowing three runs or less. After Wheeler was taken out, LHP Jerry Blevins got the last two outs in the top of the seventh. RHP Fernando Salas pitched two scoreless innings in the top of the eighth and ninth and had five strikeouts.
The Mets offense struggled all afternoon and managed four hits. 3B Wilmer Flores drove in the only run of the game with a solo homer in the bottom of the eighth.
