The New York Mets defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-2 tonight to snap their three-game losing streak and improve their record to 24-30. RHP Robert Gsellman and had a solid performance and allowed two runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings. He gave up two walks and had seven strikeouts. He picked up his fourth win of the season. RHP Fernando Salas came in next and got the last two outs in the top of the sixth. LHP Jerry Blevins followed with a scoreless top of the seventh inning. RHP Addison Reed closed it out with two scoreless innings to pick up a six-out save, his ninth on the season.
The Mets offense continued to hit the long ball with three homers. 2B Neil Walker hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning. RF Jay Bruce hit a solo homer in the bottom of the third inning. 3B Wilmer Flores added a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth inning.
