The New York Mets lost to the Miami Marlins 6-3 tonight to snap their three-game winning streak and drop their record to 34-42. RHP Robert Gsellman got the start and allowed three runs on five runs in three innings. He gave up no walks and had four strikeouts. Gsellman had to come out after three innings due to an injury that he suffered while running to first base in the top of the third. RHP Paul Sewald came in next and pitched three scoreless innings. RHP Neil Ramirez appeared next in the bottom of the seventh and allowed a lead-off walk to catcher J.T. Realmunto and a single to SS J.T. Riddle that went off of 1B Lucas Duda's glove. LHP Jerry Blevins followed and allowed a RBI single to pinch-hitter Ichiro Suzuki. Blevins intentionally walked RF Giancarlo Stanton to load the based loaded and then gave up a two-run single to CF Christian Yelich. RHP Erik Goedell had to come in next to get the last out in the bottom of the seventh as well as pitching scoreless bottom of the eighth.
The Mets offense got off to a fast start after RF Curtis Granderson hit a lead-off homer in the top of the first inning. Catcher Travis d'Arnaud hit a RBI single in the fourth inning and a game-tying solo homer in the top of the eighth inning.
