Mets RHP Robert Stock got into immiediate trouble in the bottom of the first after he gave up a double, infield hit and hit batsman to load the bases. Stock then gave up a RBI ground-out to 3B Nick Gonzalez and a two-run double to RF Ronny Simon.
Stock had a scoreless bottom of the second and then gave up a RBI single to Gonzalez in the bottom of the third.
It all imploded for Stock in the bottom of the fourth after he gave up back-to-back hits to start the inning and then gave up a hit to bring in a run. He then gave up back-to-back walks to load the bases with no outs and then threw a wild pitch to score another run.
Stock then walked 1B Spencer Horwitz to load the bases and gave up a bases-clearing double to Gonzalez and was taken out.
Stock's final line was 3.0 innings, nine hits, eight runs, five walks and four strikeouts.
RHP Xzavion Curry came in next and threw three scoreless innings.
Catcher Luis Torrens followed in the bottom of the seventh and gave up a solo homer to 2B Brandon Lowe to lead off the bottom of the seventh, but did not allow any more runs in the inning and threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.
The Met offense did not all night managing only three singles by SS Francisco Lindor, CF Luis Robert Jr, and catcher Francisco Alvarez.
The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, August 9 at the Pirates at 1:35 p.m.
