Mets Shutout by Braves 4-0 Wasting Fine Start from Nolan McLean

The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 4-0 tonight at SunTruist Park to drop their two-game losing streak and dropped their record to 53-68.

Mets RHP Nolan McLean cruised through the first four hits allowing no hits, but then in the bottom of the fifth, gave up a solo homer to 2B Ozzie Albies on a 0-2 count. 

McLean came back to retire the next three hitters and then finished up strong with a 1-2-3 bottom of the sixth and was taken out after the inning. His final line was six innings, one hit, one run, two walks and three strikeouts.

LHP Jefrey Yan came in next in the bottom of the seventh and had a difficult outing with three walks and then a wild pitch to bring in a run. He was taken out with two outs in the bottom of the seventh.  

RHP Chayce McDermott followed and after throwing a wild pitch, got 3B Austin Riley to fly out to deep center field and then CF Luis Robert Jr made a nice catch at the wall.

McDermott stayed in for the bottom of the eighth and gave up a two-run homer to 1B Matt Olson.

The Met offense did nothing all night managing only four hits including two hits from RF Carson Benge. They went 0-2 with runners in scoring position leaving five runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Wednesday, August 12 at the Braves at 7:15 p.m.
