The Met offense was held scoreless for the first two innings until the top of the third after LF Brett Baty and DH Jorge Polanco hit back-to-back homers.
In the top of the fourth, RF Carson Benge reached on an error with one out and then 1B Jared Young followed with a RBI double.
In the top of the sixth, Benge hit a solo homer.
The offense did not score in the top of the seventh and eighth innings, and then came alive in the top of the ninth.
1B Jared Young led off with a walk and three batters later with two outs, Polanco doubled. 2B Marcus Semien then walked to load the bases and then CF A.J. Ewing reached on an error by 2B Travis Bazzana.
In the top of the tenth, 3B Bo Bichette hit a game-winning double.
Mets RHP Christian Scott started out well with three scoreless innings and then gave up a RBI single to Bazzana in the bottom of the fourth and then came back to get three straight outs with two strikeouts.
In the bottom of the fifth, Scott loaded the bases and then gave up a two-run single to 1B Nataniel Lowe and was taken out after the inning with the game tied.
Scott's final line was five innings, six hits, three runs, two walks and seven strikeouts.
LHP Jefry Yan came in next in the bottom of the sixth in his ML debut and escaped out of a based loaded jam.
RHP Dedneil Nunez followed in the bottom of the seventh in his return back to the Major Leagues and was hurt by his defense to start the inning after Young made a fielding error and then Nunez gave up a RBI double to catcher Patrick Bailey and a RBI single to 3B Angel Genao.
RHP Chayce McDermott followed with two scoreless innings in the bottom of the eighth and ninth. McDermott picked up his first win.
RHP Daniel Duerte closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the tenth and picked up his first save.
The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Thursday, August 6 at the Guardians at 1:10 p.m.
