His final line was five innings, three hits, one run, 0 walks and four strikeouts.

RHP Jose Butto came in next in the bottom of the sixth and gave up a one-out single to 1B Luis Arraez and two batters later, a RBI triple to Merrill.

Two batters later, Butto gave up a two-run double to catcher Elias Diaz and was then taken out.

Devenski stayed in for the bottom of the eighth and threw a scoreless inning.

The Met offense did not do much all night with only four hits and went 0-6 with runners in scoring position leaving eight runners on base.

Their only run came in the top of the fifth after 2B Brett Baty led off with a walk, catcher Luis Torrens followed with a single and LF Brandon Nimmo walked to load the bases.

Two batters later, RF Starling Marte drove in the lone run of the game with a sacrifice fly. Marte came into the game after RF Juan Soto was hit on the foot on a foul ball and left the game in the next half inning with a foot contusion.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, July 30 at the Padres at 4:10 p.m.
