Mets Hang On To Beat Diamondbacks 10-9 Behind Offense

The New York Mets beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 10-9 tonight at Citi Field for their second consecutive win and improved their record to 24-33.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first and rallied from a three-run deficit after SS Francisco Lindor walked and then two batters later LF Brandon Nimmo doubled and DH J.D. Martinez singled to load the bases.

RF Starling Marte followed with a based clearing triple to tie the game and then DH Mark Vientos followed with a RBI single.

In the bottom of the second, catcher Tomas Nido led off with a double and then Lindor followed with a RBI double.

In the bottom of the fourth, Nido led off with a walk and then advanced to second on a wild pitch.

Two batters later, 1B Pete Alonso came through with a RBI double and then later in the inning, Marte came through again with a RBI single and then Vientos followed with another RBI single.

In the bottom of the sixth, Nimmo led off with a single and then Martinez followed with a two-run homer.

RHP Luis Severino got off to a difficult start in the top of the first allowing three runs, but settled down after that.

Severino had a scoreless top of the second and then gave up a RBI ground-out in the top of the third.

Severino had a scoreless innings in the top of the fourth and fifth, and then gave up a solo homer to 3B Eugenio Suarez with one out in the top of the sixth and was then taken out.

His final line was 5.1 innings, six hits, five runs, one walk and four strikeouts.

He picked up his third win.

RHP Dedniel Nunez followed and was able to get the last two outs in the top of the sixth.

LHP Jake Diekmann came in next and threw a scoreless top of the seventh.

RHP Sean Reid-Foley then threw a scoreless top of the eighth.

Reid-Foley came back out for the top of the ninth and gave up an infield hit and a walk before being taken out.

RHP Reed Garrett had to come in and retired 2B Ketel Marte for the second out, but then gave up a three-run homer to DH Joc Peterson and a solo homer to the following hitter 1B Christian Walker.

Garrett came back to strike out LF Lourdes Gurriel Jr for the last out of the game.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, June 1 at home against the Diamondbacks at 4:10 p.m.

Mets Beat Diamondbacks 3-2 Powered By Martinez and Lindor

 The New York Mets beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-2 tonight at Citi Field to snap their three-game losing streak and improved their record to 23-33.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first two innings, and in the bottom of the third, SS Francisco Lindor drove in a run with a solo homer.

The offense did not do much for the next few innings wasting scoring opportunities, but they came alive in the bottom of the seventh after pinch-hitter Pete Alonso hit a one-out double and two batters later, Lindor drove in his second run of the game with a RBI double.

In the bottom of the eighth, D.H. J.D. Martinez drove in the game-winning run with a solo homer.

RHP Christian Scott started out with two scoreless innings and then gave up a two-run double to 2B Ketel Marte in the top of the third.

Scott had scoreless innings in the top of the fourth and fifth and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was five innings, four hits, two runs, one walk and four strikeouts.

RHP Adrian Houser followed with two scoreless innings in the top of the sixth and seventh.

LHP Danny Young came in next in the top of the eighth and threw a scoreless inning.

Young picked up his second win of the year.

RHP Reed Garrett came on in the top of the ninth and had a scoreless inning for his third save of the season.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Friday, May 31 at home against the Diamondbacks at 7:10 p.m.

Mets Embarrassed by Dodgers 10-3 And Swept In Series

The New York Mets lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers 10-3 this afternoon at Citi Field to be swept in their three-game series and dropped their record to 22-33.

LHP David Peterson started out well with a scoreless top of the first, but gave up a solo homer to catcher Will Smith in the top of the second.

Peterson had a scoreless top of the third and then gave up a RBI single to CF Andy Pages in the top of the fourth.

Peterson gave up another run in the top of the fifth on a RBI single by DH Shohei Ohtani and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was five innings, seven hits, three runs, one walk and three strikeouts.

RHP Sean Reid-Foley followed with 1.1 scoreless innings

LHP Jake Diekman came in next and got the last two outs in the top of the seventh.

RHP Adam Ottavino came on in the top of the eighth and gave up a RBI single to SS Miguel Vargas and was taken out with one out in the inning.

RHP Jorge Lopez came in next and it all imploded from there after he gave up a two-run double to LF Miguel Vargas and later in the inning a two-run homer to Ohtani.

LHP Josh Walker gave up a solo homer to pinch-hitter Jason Heyward in the top of the ninth.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first four innings, but in the bottom of the fifth, catcher Tomas Nido hit a two-run homer and then DH J.D. Martinez hit a RBI double.

The offense did not do much with men on base going 1-6 with runners in scoring position.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Thursday, May 30 at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks at 7:10 p.m..  

Edwin Diaz Goes on Injured List

The New York Mets placed RHP Edwin Diaz on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder impingement.

Diaz has had a rough season with a 5.40 ERA and four blown saves.

LHP Josh Walker was recalled to take Diaz's roster spot.

Mets Lose to Dodgers 3-0 And Swept in Doubleheader

The New York Mets lost to the Los Angeles 3-0 tonight at Citi Field and were swept in their doubleheader to drop their record to 22-32.

LHP Jose Quintana got off a tough start in the top of the first after he gave up a solo homer to DH Will Smith.

Quintana gave up an infield hit to CF Andy Pages and then a RBI double to the following hitter LF Miguel Vargas.

Quintana had scoreless innings in the top of the third, fourth and fifth, but gave up a solo homer to Vargas in the top of the sixth and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was six innings, eight hits, three runs, 0 walks and three strikeouts.

RHP Dedniel Nunez followed with two scoreless innings in the top of the seventh and eighth.

LHP Josh Walker threw a scoreless top of the ninth.

The Met offense did not do much all night outside of three singles by SS Francisco Lindor, 3B Mark Vientos and LF Brandon Nimmo and left four runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, May 29 at home against the Dodgers at 4:10 p.m.

Mets Lose to Dodgers 5-2 in 10 Innings With Poor Defense and Bullpen

The New York Mets lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-2 at Citi Field in 10 innings this afternoon in the first game of a doubleheader and dropped their record to 22-31.

RHP Tylor Megill had an outstanding start with seven scoreless innings allowing three hits and one walk with nine strikeouts.

RHP Reed Garrett came on in the top of the eighth and was let down by his defense after SS Francisco Lindor failed out to turn a double play.

Later in the inning, 3B Brett Baty was unable to turn a double play and then Garrett gave up a RBI single to 1B Freddie Freeman.

In the top of the ninth, RHP Adam Ottavino failed to secure a bunt after giving up back-to-back singles which scored the tying run.

In the top of the tenth, RHP Jorge Lopez gave up a RBI single to SS Mookie Betts and a two-run homer to Freeman.

The Met offense did not do much outside of a two-run homer by SS Francisco Lindor in the bottom of the third.

In the bottom of the ninth, they had the bases loaded with one out, but CF Tyrone Taylor popped up with one out and then 2B Jeff McNeil popped out to end the inning.

They went 0-6 with runners in scoring position leaving six runners on base,

The Mets have another game tonight at 7:40 p.m.

Mets Beat Giants 4-3 With Ninth Inning Rally To Avoid Sweep

The New York Mets beat the San Francisco Giants 4-3 this afternoon at Citi Field to snap their five-game losing streak and improved their record to 22-30.

After a scoreless bottom of the first, CF Harrison Bader drove in the first Met run of the game with a RBI single.

Later in the game, in the top of the sixth, Bader made a spectacular leaping catch to rob 3B Matt Chapman of a solo homer.

The Met offense did not do much after the bottom of the first, but finally came alive in the bottom of the ninth.

LF Brandon Nimmo led off with an infield hit and then DH J.D. Martinez followed with a single.

Two batters later, 2B Jeff McNeil was hit by a pitch to load the bases and then Bader came through once again with a game-tying two-run double.

3B Brett Baty followed with an intentional walk and then catcher Omar Narvaez delivered a walk-off single.

LHP Sean Manaea had a solid outing allowing two runs on five hits in five innings.

He gave up one walk with six strikeouts.

RHP Adrian Houser followed and did a fine job out of the bullpen allowing one run on two hits in five innings.

He gave up one walk with two strikeouts and picked up his first win.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Monday May 27 back at home at Citi Field against the Los Angeles Dodgers at 4:10 p.m.

The New York Mets lost to the San Francisco Giants 7-2 in 10 innings this afternoon at Citi Field for theri fifth consecutive loss and dropped their record to 21-30.

RHP Luis Severino dominated through the first five innings and had a no-hitter, but lost it in the top of the sixth after he gave up a one-out single to SS Brett Wisely and two batters later, a RBI single to DH Patrick Bailey.

Severino had a scoreless top of the seventh and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was seven innings, two hits, one run, three walks and six strikeouts.

RHP Adam Ottavino followed with a scoreless top of the eighth.

RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the top of the ninth and gave up a lead-off single to 1B Wilmer Flores and later in the inning, a game-tying RBI single to pinch-hitter LaMonte Wade Jr to blow his third consecutive save.

RHP Sean Reid-Foley followed in the top of the tenth and had a difficult outing allowing a RBI single to Wisely, a based loaded walk to Bailey and then a bases clearing triple to RF Mike Yastrzemski.

In the bottom of the second, RF Starling Marte drove in the first run of the game with a solo homer.

The offense did not do much until the bottom of the seventh after 3B Brett Baty hit a solo homer.

The Met offense struggled all game with men on base going 0-13 with runners in scoring position leaving 10 runners on base.

Mets Lose to Giants 8-7 After Garrett Blows 8th Inning Lead

The New York Mets lost to the San Francisco Giants 8-7 tonight at Citi Field for their fourth consecutive loss and dropped their record to 21-29.

RHP Christian Scott had a scoreless top of the first, but gave up a solo homer to DH Jorge Soler in the top of the second.

Scott gave up a RBI ground-out to CF Luis Matos in the top of the third, but settled down after that retiring the last 11 hitters he faced.

Scott's final line was six innings, two runs, one walk and four strikeouts.

RHP Edwin Diaz came in next and threw a scoreless top of the seventh.

RHP Reed Garrett followed in the top of the eighth and had his worst outing of the season allowing a RBI double to 2B Thairo Estrada and later in the inning, a grand slam to catcher Patrick Bailey.

In the top of the ninth, RHP Jorge Lopez gave up a solo homer to RF Mike Yastrzemski.

In the bottom of the first, 1B Pete Alonso drove in the first run of the game with a RBI single.

After scoreless innings in the bottom of the second and third, 2B Jeff McNeil drove in the tying run in the bottom of the fourth with a RBI single.

In the bottom of the fifth, D.H. J.D. Martinez and 3B Mark Vientos hit back-to-back homers.

In the bottom of the seventh, Alonso drove in his second RBI of the game with a solo homer,

In the bottom of the ninth, pinch-hitter D.J. Stewart led off with a double and two batters later, SS Francisco Lindor drove in a run with a RBI single.

Later in the inning, LF Brandon Nimmo was intentionally walked to load the bases with one out, but then Martinez struck out and Vientos grounded out to third to end the game.

The New York Mets lost to the Cleveland Guardians 6-3 this afternoon at Progressive Field to be swept in their three-game series and dropped their record to 21-28.

LHP Jose Quintana started out well with five scoreless innings, but it fell apart for him in the bottom of the sixth after he gave up a three-run homer to 2B Andres Giminez and was taken out after the inning.

Quintana's final line was six innings, four hits, three runs, 0 walks and four strikeouts.

RHP Reed Garrett followed in the bottom of the seventh and gave up the game-winning RBI single to RF Jonathan Rodriguez.

RHP Adam Ottavino came in the bottom of the eighth and had a tough outing allowing two runs on a a RBI double to DH Jose Ramirez and a RBI single by pinch-hitter Kyle Manzardo.

The Met offense got on the board early in the top of the first after 1B Pete Alonso hit a solo homer.

In the top of the second, 2B Jeff McNeil hit a solo homer.

In the top of the fourth, CF Harrison Bader hit a solo homer.

The Met offense did not do much after that and struggled with men going 0-8 with runners in scoring position leaving eight runners on base,

The New York Mets lost to the Cleveland Guardians 7-6 tonight at Progressive Field for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record to 21-27.

RHP Adrian Houser started out well with two scoreless innings, but gave up three runs in the bottom of the third on RBI doubles by SS Bryan Rocchio, CF Tyler Freeman and 3B Jose Ramirez.

Houser gave up two more runs in the bottom of the fifth on a two-run homer by Ramirez and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was five innings, six hits, six runs, one walk and four strikeouts.

LHP Jake Diekman came in next in the bottom of the sixth and gave up a run.

RHP Jorge Lopez followed with 1.1 scoreless innings.

RHP Sean Reid-Foley threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

RHP Tylor Megill retired the first two hitters he faced in the bottom of the first, but then gave up singles to 3B Jose Ramirez and 1B Josh Naylor and a two-run single by LF David Fry.

Megill had scoreless innings in the bottom of the second and third, but gave up a RBI double to DH Kyle Manzardo in the bottom of the fourth.

Megill had a scoreless bottom of the fifth and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was five innings, four hits, three runs, two walks and seven strikeouts.

LHP Josh Walker followed with two scoreless innings in the bottom of the sixth and seventh.

RHP Jorge Lopez threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

The Met offense did not do much all game outside of a solo homer by catcher Tomas Nido in the top of the third.

They had their best scoring opportunity in the top of the sixth, but 3B Brett Baty stuck out with the based loaded and two outs.

Mets Beat Marlins 7-3 Powered By Nimmo

The New York Mets beat the Miami Marlins 7-3 this afternoon at LoanDepot Park to snap their two-game losing streak and improved their record to 21-25.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the top of the first after SS Francisco Lindor led off with a hit by pitch and two batters later, DH Brandon Nimmo walked.

RF D.J. Stewart then walked to load the bases and then LF Tyrone Taylor delivered a two-run double.

3B Brett Baty followed with a walk and two batters later, CF Harrison Bader capped off the scoring with a two-run single.

The offense did not do much for the next seven innings, but in the top of the ninth, Lindor singled with one out and two batters later, Nimmo broke the game open with a two-run homer.

Marte was hit by a pitch and then Taylor singled.

LHP Sean Manaea had a scoreless bottom of the first, but then gave up a two-run homer to RF Dane Myers in the bottom of the second.

Manaea was able to settle down after that with scoreless innings in the bottom of the third, fourth and fifth.

His final line was five innings, five hits, two runs, one walk and four strikeouts.

He picked up his third win.

RHP Sean Reid-Foley followed with a scoreless bottom of the sixth.

LHP Jake Diekmann came in next in the bottom of the seventh and gave up a solo homer to catcher Christian Bethancourt.

RHP Reed Garrett closed it out with two scoreless innings in the bottom of the eighth and ninth innings and picked up his second save.

Mets Lose To Marlins 10-9 After Diaz Blows Another Lead

The New York Mets lost to the Miami Marlins 10-9 this afternoon at LoanDepot Park for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record to 20-25.

RHP Luis Severino had a tough outing with a final line of 6.2 innings, six hits, five runs, three walks and three strikeouts.

RHP Reed Garrett had to come in to get the last out in the bottom of the seventh,.

RHP Adam Ottavino followed with a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the bottom of the ninth and had another difficult appearance allowing a RBI single to CF Jazz Chisholm J.r. and later in the inning, a game-tying three-run homer to 1B Josh Bell recording only out.

LHP Jake Diekmann had to come in to get the last two outs in the ninth.

RHP Jorge Lopez came on in the bottom of the tenth and gave up a walk-off RBI single to 2B Otto Lopez.

The Met offense got on the board early in the top of the first after D.H. J.D. Martinez hit a RBI single and then 3B Mark Vientos followed with a RBI single.

In the top of the fourth, SS Francisco Lindor drove in a run on a RBI ground-out.

In the top of the fifth, CF Harrison Bader hit a RBI single and then 2B Jeff McNeil followed with a RBI single of his own.

In the top of the ninth, Martinez drove in another run with a RBI double and then RF Starling Marte hit a RBI double.

Mets Crushed by Marlins 8-0 After Christian Scott Struggles

The New York Mets lost to the Miami Marlins 8-0 tonight at LoanDepot Park and dropped their record to 20-24.

RHP Christian Scott started out well with a scoreless bottom of the first, but had a difficult bottom of the second.

Scott gave up a lead-off single to RF Jesus Sanchez and then two batters later a single to LF Dee-Strange Gordon.

Scott then allowed a sacrifice fly to 3B Otto Lopez.

It then unraveled for Scott in the inning after he gave up a single to SS Vidal Brujan and then a three-run homer to catcher Nick Fortes.

Scott was able to settle down after that and did not allow any more runs.

He had scoreless innings in the bottom of the third and fourth and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was four innings, seven hits, four runs, one walk and three strikeouts.

LHP Josh Walker came in next and threw a scoreless bottom of the fifth, but gave up two runs in the bottom of the sixth on a wild pitch and then a RBI single by DH Bryan De La Cruz.

RHP Grant Harwig followed with a scoreless bottom of the seventh and gave up two runs in the bottom of the eighth on a RBI ground-out by 1B Josh Bell and an RBI single by 3B Jake Burger.

The Met offense was unable to generate much all night and had only six hits.

Mets Rally to Beat Phillies 6-5 in 11 innings

The New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6-5 tonight in 11 innings at Citizens Bank Park to snap their three-game losing streak and improved their record to 20-23.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the top of the first after 1B Pete Alonso hit a solo homer.

In the top of the second, RF Starling Marte singled and then stole second and then 3B Brett Baty drove in Marte with a RBI double.

The bats did not do much for the next five innings, but came alive in the top of eighth.

CF Tyrone Taylor reached on an error and Alonso walked.

Later in the inning, pinch-hitter Harrison Bader came up and delivered game-tying single.

Alonso then scored on a wild pitch.

In the top of the eleventh, DH J.D. Martinez led off and drove in the game-winning run with a RBI double.

Bader followed with a double and came around to score on a wild pitch.

LHP Jose Quintana started out well with five scoreless innings, but ran into trouble in the bottom of the sixth.

Quintana gave up one-out singles to catcher J.T Realmuto and 1B Bryce Harper and was then taken out.

RHP Reed Garrett came in next and gave up a RBI single to 3B Alec Hohm and then Taylor made a throwing error which allowed runners to advance to second and third.

Garrett then gave up a sacrifice fly to RF Nick Castellanos.

Garrett stayed in for the bottom of the seventh and gave up a RBI double to DH Kyle Schwarber.

RHP Adam Ottavino threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the bottom of the ninth and had another difficult outing walking LF Brandon Marsh and then throwing a wild pitch.

Later in the inning, Diaz gave up a game-tying RBI single to SS Bryson Stott for his third blown save of the year.

RHP Jorge Lopez threw a scoreless bottom of the tenth and picked up his first win.

LHP Jake Diekmann came on in the bottom of the eleventh and got into trouble after Alonso made an error and then gave up a walk which loaded the bases.

Diekmann was able to recover by retiring Stott on a RBI ground-out and then struck out Schwarber for the last out of the game and picked up his first win.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Friday, May 17 at the Miami Marlins at 7:10 p.m.

Mets Crushed By Phillies 10-5 With Walks and Sloppy Defense

The New York Mets lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 10-5 tonight at Citizens Bank Park for their third consecutive loss and dropped their record to 19-23.

LHP Joey Lucchesi got into immediate trouble in the bottom of the first after he gave up a solo homer to 1B Bryce Harper.

Lucchesi was then able to throw scoreless innings in the bottom of the second, third and fourth, however it all fell apart in the bottom of the fifth.

He gave up two consecutive walks and then a sacrifice bunt to CF Johan Rojas which loaded the bases.

Lucches gave up his third walk of the inning to DH Kyle Schwarber to score the tying run.

Lucchesi then allowed a two-run single to catcher J.T. Realmuto and a two-run double to Harper and was then taken out.

His final line was 4.1 innings, five hits, five runs, four walks and two strikeouts.

RHP Grant Hartwig came in next and got the last two outs in the bottom of the fifth.

Hartwig stayed in for the bottom of the sixth and gave up a RBI ground-out to LF Christian Pache and two batters later, a RBI single to Schwarber.

RHP Adrian Houser came in the bottom of the seventh and gave up singles to Harper and 3B Alec Bohm.

Later in the inning, Houser gave up a RBI ground-out to SS Edmundo Sosa and then a sacrifice fly by Pache and later in the inning a RBI single by Rojas.

Houser stayed in for the bottom of the eighth and threw a scoreless inning.

The Met offense got on the board in the top of the first after 3B Mark Vientos hit a RBI double.

In the top of third, 1B Pete Alonso scored on a wild pitch.

The offense did not do much until the top of the eighth after DH J.D. Martinez led off with a solo homer and two batter later, 2B Jeff McNeil hit a RBI double.

Later in the inning, catcher Tomas Nido hit a RBI single.

Mets Shutout By Phillies 4-0 After Aaron Nola Dominates

The New York Mets lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 4-0 this afternoon at Citi Field for their third consecutive loss and dropped their record to 19-22.

RHP Jose Butto had a scoreless top of the first,  but ran into trouble in the top of the second.

Butto gave up a lead-off single to CF Johan Rojas and then two walks to load the bases. 

Butto then hit 1B Alex Bohm to bring in a run and walked LF Brandon Walsh to bring in another run.

Butto was able to settle down after that with scoreless innings in the top of the third, fourth and fifth.

His final line was five innings, one hit, two runs, four walks and four strikeouts.

RHP Yohan Ramirez followed with a scoreless top of the sixth.

LHP Jake Diekmann came in next and walked three batters in the top of the seventh and was taken out with two outs in the inning.

RHP Jorge Lopez followed with 1.1 scoreless innings.

RHP Sean Reid-Foley came on in the top of the ninth and gave up two runs on  a RBI single to SS Bryson Scott and a RBI double to Bohm.

The Met offense was held hitless for the first five innings until CF Tyrone Taylor singled in the bottom of the sixth.

They went 1-3 with runners in scoring position leaving three runners on base,

Phillies RHP Aaron Nola was dominant with a complete-game shutout allowing four hits and no walks with eight strikeouts.

Mets Lose to Phillies 5-4 in 10 Innings After Diaz Blows Ninth Inning Lead

The New York Mets lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 5-4 in 10 innings tonight at Citi Field to drop their record to 19-21.

LHP Sean Manaea had a scoreless top of the first, but then gave up a run in the top of the second on a bunt single by catcher Garrett Stubbs.

Manaea was able to settle down after that and didn't allowing any more runs.

His final line was six innings, four hits, one run, one walk and six strikeouts.

RHP Jorge Lopez came in next in the top of the seventh and got into trouble allowing two hits and then gave up a RBI ground-out on a fielders choice by CH Johan Rojas and was taken out with one out in the inning.

RHP Adam Ottavino followed and was able to get the last two outs to preserve the lead.

Ottavino stayed in for the top of the eighth and threw a scoreless inning.

RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the top of the ninth for the save, but his early season struggled continued after he gave up a lead-off homer to 2B Bryson Stott and then two more baserunners to load the bases.

Diaz then walked LF Whit Merrfield with two outs to bring in a run.

Diaz then hit the next hitter 3B Alec Bohm which scored the tying run.

RHP Sean-Reid Foley came on in the top of the tenth and gave up the game-winning sacrifice fly to Stott.

In the bottom of the second, 1B Pete Alonso led off with a double and then DH J.D. Martinez followed with a RBI double.

Later in the inning, catcher Tomas Nido drove in Martinez with a RBI single.

In the bottom of the third, Martinez drove in another run with a based loaded walk, but the next three hitters struck out which prevented a much larger scoring outburst in the inning.

In the bottom of the seventh, Alonso and Martinez got on base and then pinch-hitter Tyrone Taylor grounded into a fielder's choice and Alonso came around to score on an error by 3B Alec Bohm.

The Met offense struggled all night with men going 3-16 with runners in scoring position leaving 11 runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Tuesday, May 14 at home against the Phillies at 1:10 p.m.

Mets Beat Braves 4-3 On Walk-Off Homer from Brandon Nimmo

The New York Mets beat the Atlanta Braves 4-3 tonight at Citi Field to snap their two-game losing streak and improved their record to 19-20.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first two innings, but in the bottom of the third, LF D.J. Stewart singled with one out and two batters later SS Francisco Lindor singled.

1B Pete Alonso followed with a RBI single to bring in the tying run.

In the bottom of the sixth, Lindor led off with a double and then Alonso followed with a RBI double, his second RBI of the game,

The offense did not do much in the next two innings and then came alive in the bottom of the ninth.

2B Jeff McNeil led off with a bunt single and then catcher Tomas Nido followed with a sacrifice bunt.

LF Brandon Nimmo came up next and going in the game late as a defensive replacement and delivered a two-run walk-off homer.

RHP Luis Severino had another solid outing allowing two runs on four hits in five innings.

He gave up three walks with four strikeouts.

RHP Reed Garrett followed with two scoreless innings in the top of the sixth and seventh.

RHP Adam Ottavino came on in the top of the eighth and gave up a RBI single to DH Marcel Ozuna was taken out with one out in the inning.

LHP Jake Diekman had to come in to get the last two outs.

RHP Edwin Diaz threw a scoreless top of the ninth and picked up his first win of the season.

The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 4-1 at Citi Field this afternoon for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record to 18-20.

RHP Christian Scott started out well with two scoreless innings, but ran into trouble in the top of the third.

Scott gave up a lead-off single to CF Michael Harris II and then a two-run homer to the following hitter SS Orlando Arcia.

Scott gave up another run in the top of the fourth on a RBI single by Harris.

He had scoreless innings in the top of the fifth and sixth and was taken out with no outs in the top of the seventh.

His final line was 6.0 inning, six hits, three runs, two walks and a career-high eight strikeouts.

RHP Sean Reid-Foley followed with two scoreless innings in the top of the seventh and eighth.

RHP Jorge Lopez gave up a run in the top of the ninth on a based loaded walk to RF Ronald Acuna Jr.

The Met offense was unable to get anything good and was held hitless for the first 8 2/3 innings.

In the bottom of the ninth, they were able to break up the no-hitter after DH J.D. Martinez hit a solo homer with two outs and then 2B Jeff McNeil walked and CF Harrison Bader reached on an infield hit to bring the tying run to the plate.

3B Brett Baty came up next with a chance to tie the game, but lined out to centerfield for the final out.

Mets Lose to Braves 4-2 After Quintana Struggles With Homers

The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 4-2 tonight at Citi Field to snap their two-game winning streak and dropped their record to  under .500 at 18-19.

LHP Jose Quintana started out well with two scoreless innings, however it all unraveled in the top of the third.

Quintana gave up back-to-back homer to RF Ronald Acuna Jr. and 2B Ozzie Albies.

Two batters later, he gave up a two-run homer to 1B Matt Olsen.

Quintana had scoreless innings in the top of the fourth and fifth and was taken out after the top of the fifth.

His final line was five innings, six hits, four runs, two walks and three strikeouts.

RHP Yohan Ramirez followed with two scoreless innings in the top of the sixth and seventh.

RHP Adrian Houser threw two scoreless innings in the top of the eighth and ninth.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first six innings against RHP Charlie Morton until SS Francisco Lindor hit a solo homer.

In the bottom of the ninth, 1B Pete Alonso drove in a run on a RBI single with two outs to bring up DH. J.D. Martinez as the tying run, but Martinez flew out to center to end the game after missing a homer that went foul earlier in the at-bat.

Mets Beat the Cardinals 7-5 Behind Six-Run Inning

The New York Mets beat the St. Louis Cardinals 7-5 tonight at Busch Stadium for their second consecutive win and improved their record back to .500 at 18-18.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first four innings, but came alive in the top of the fifth.

2B Jeff McNeil led off with a single and then catcher Tomas Nido followrd with a single.

CF Brandon Nimmo then delivered a game-tying three-run homer and hitting the game-winning homer in last night's game.

RF Starling Marte followed with a single and then SS Francisco Lindor doubled.

1B Pete Alonso came up next and broke out of his 1-for-32 slump with a two-run double.

DH J.D, Martinez followed with a RBI single.

The bats did not do much in the next three innings, but in the top of the ninth, Alonso came through once again with a solo homer, his third RBI of the game.

RHP Jose Butto had a rocky beginning in the bottom of the first allowing a lead-off homer to LF Brendan Donovan and later in the inning, a sacrifice fly by 3B Nolan Arenado and a RBI single by DH Alec Burleson.

Butto was able to settle down after that with scoreless innings in the bottom of the second, third, fourth and fifth.

His final line was five innings, five hits, three runs, three walks and three strikeouts.

He picked up his first win of the season.

RHP Cole Sulser followed in the bottom of the sixth and gave up a solo homer to Burleson.

RHP Jorge Lopez came on in the bottom of the seventh and worked his way out of a based loaded jam retiring Arenado on a pop out and striking out 1B Paul Goldschmidt to end the inning.

RHP Reed Garrett came in next and continued his dominant season with another scoreeless inning.

RHP Adam Ottavino came in the bottom of the ninth and gave up a solo homer to RF Lars Nootbaar and then gave up a single and walk before settling down.

Ottavino came back to strike out Goldschmidt and Burleson to pick up his first save of the season.

The New York Mets beat the St. Louis Cardinals 4-3 tonight at Busch Stadium to snap their three-game losing streak and improved their record to 17-18.

The Mets offense got on the board early in the top of the first after SS Francisco Lindor walked with two outs and then 1B D.J. Stewart followed with a RBI double.

The bats did not do much for the next three innings until the top of the fifth after catcher Tomas Nido singled and then CF Brandon Nimmo singled and advanced to second on an error by RF Lars Noothbaar.

RF Starling Marte followed with a RBI ground-out and Lindor then hit a sacrifice fly.

In the top of the seventh, Nimmo drove in the go-ahead run with a solo homer.

LHP Sean Manaea cruised through the first five innings, but ran into trouble in the bottom of the sixth.

Manaea allowed the first three baserunners he faced and then gave up a RBI double to catcher Wilson Contreras and later in the inning a two-run double to DH Ivan Herrera and was taken out after the inning.

Manaea's final line was six innings, six hits, three runs, one walk and one strikeout.

He picked up his second win.

LHP Jake Diekman followed with a scoreless bottom of the seventh.

RHP Adam Ottavino then threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the bottom of the ninth and had a much better outing with a 1-2-3 inning with a strikeout and two ground-outs relying mostly on his fastball to pick up his fifth save of the season.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Tuesday, May 7 at the Cardinals at 7:45 p.m.

Mets Swept By Rays 7-6 in 10 innings After Blowing Late Lead

The New York Mets lost to the Tampa Bay Rays 7-6 in 10 innings at Tropicana Field this afternoon to be swept in their three-game series and dropped their record to 16-18.

RHP Luis Severino started out well with a scoreless bottom of the first, but gave up three runs in the bottom of the second.

Severino gave up another run in the bottom of the third, but then had scoreless innings in the bottom of the fourth and fifth and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was 5 innings, four hits, six walks and six strikeouts.

Severino was able to get strikeouts, but also struggled with his control which led to several walks and a shortened outing.

RHP Jorge Lopez followed with a scoreless bottom of the sixth.

RHP Reed Garrett threw a scoreless bottom of the seventh.

RHP Sean Reid-Foley threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the bottom of the ninth and retired the first two hitters he faced, but then gave up a solo homer to LF Randy Arozarena on a hanging slider.

In the bottom of the tenth, LF Jake Diekman gave up a walk-off triple to RF Jonny DeLuca.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the top of the first after SS Francisco Lindor hit a two-run homer.

In the top of the third, DH D.J. Stewart drove in the tying run with a based loaded walk.

In the top of the fourth, catcher Omar Narvaez drove in the tying run with a RBI single and later in the inning, LF Brandon Nimmo drove in a run with a RBI single.

The bats did not do much for the next six innings until the top of the tenth after Nimmo reached on an error which brought home a run.

They struggled with men on base and went 4-16 with runners in scoring position and left 13 runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Monday, May 6 at the St. Louis Cardinals at 7:45 p.m.

Mets Lose To Rays 3-1 And Waste Christian Scott's Stellar Debut

The New York Mets lost to the Tampa Bays 3-1 tonight at Tropicana Field for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record to under .500 at 16-17.

RHP Cbristian Scott made his ML debut and got off to a rocky start in the bottom of the first allowing a run and then loading the bases, but came back to strike out LF Randy Arozena and then got an inning-ending double play.

Scott was able to settle down after that retiring the next 12 consecutive hitters he faced and had to throw only 24 pitches in the next three innings.

He was able to work his way out of another jam in the bottom of the fifth and then threw a scoreless bottom of the sixth.

Scott got the first two outs in the bottom of the seventh and was taken out with 94 pitches.

His final line was 6.2 innings, five hits, one run, one walk and six strikeouts.

Scott showed off his repertoire with his four-seam fastball, sweeper and slider using his fastball 44 percent of the time as well as 28 sweepers and 17 sliders.

He had a lot of composure and was not rattled when faced with men on base.

It was an impressive debut and it will fun to see how Scott continues to grow and develop.

 RHP Reed Garrett came in next and was able to get the last out in the bottom of the seventh.

RHP Adam Ottavino came on in the bottom of the eighth and got into trouble loading the bases and then walked pinch-hitter Austin Shenton to bring in the go-ahead run and was then taken out.

RHP Sean Reid-Foley followed and gave up another run on a based loaded walk to SS Jose Caballero.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the top of the first after LF Brandon Nimmo led off with a double and then RF Starling Marte followed with a RBI single, but did not score any more runs after that.

They wasted several scoring opportunities and went 1-10 with runners in scoring position leaving eight runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, May 5th at the Rays at 1:40 p.m.

Mets Lose to Rays 10-8 After Quintana Gets Shelled

The New York Mets lost to the Tampa Bays 10-8 tonight at Tropicana Field and dropped their record back to .500 at 16-16.

LHP Jose Quintana started out well with a scoreless bottom of the first, however it started to unravel in the bottom of the second.

Quintana allowed a RBI ground-out to CF Jonny DeLuca and then a RBI double to 3B Curtis Mead and a RBI single to 1B Yandy Diaz.

It all came apart for Quintana in the bottom of the third after he gave up a RBI single to former Met 2B Amed Rosario, a sacrifice fly to catcher Alex Jackson and then a two-run double by DeLuca.

Quintana gave up a RBI single to Diaz later in the inning and was then taken out.

His final line was 2.2 innings, 10 hits, eight runs, one walk and two strikeouts.

RHP Dedniel Nunez came in next and allowed one run in 2 1/3 innings.

LHP Danny Young threw two scoreless innings in the bottom of the seven and eighth innings.

The Met offense got on the scoreboard in the top of the second after 3B Brett Baty hit a three-run homer.

In the top of the fifth, RF Starling Marte drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and later in the inning, SS Francisco Lindor hit a two-run double, his third in the last two games.

1B Pete Alonso followed with a RBI double to break out of a 0-19 slump.

In the top of the ninth, Baty hit his second homer of the game and then LF Brandon Nimmo doubled with two outs, but Marte struck out to end the game.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Saturday, May 4 at the Rays at 7:15 p.m.

Mets Beat Cubs 7-6 in 11 innings on Walk-Off Double from Francisco Lindor

The New York Mets beat the Chicago Cubs 7-6 this afternoon at Citi Field in 11 innings to improve their record to 16-15.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first four innings, but came alive in the bottom of the fifth.

3B Brett Baty and then CF Harrison Bader singled.

Later in the inning, LF Brandon Nimmo drove in a run with a RBI single and RF Starling Marte followed with a RBI single.

In the bottom of the sixth, pinch-hitter Francisco Lindor came off the bench to deliver a two-run double and later in the inning, Nimmo drove in tying run with a RBI single.

The offense did not do much for the next four innings, but in the bottom of the 11th, Lindor came once through once again with a walk-off two-run double.

RHP Adam Houser had another rough outing allowing four runs on four hits in five innings.

Houser gave up four walks with two strikeouts.

RHP Dedniel Nunez followed in the top of the sixth and gave up a RBI double to former Met CF Pete Crow-Armstrong.

LHP Jake Diekmann came in next and threw a scoreless top of the seventh.

RHP Reed Garrett thew a scoreless top of the eighth.

RHP Edwin Diaz followed and threw two scoreless innings in the top of the ninth and tenth.

LHP Danny Young came on in the top of the 11th and gave up a RBI double to 2B Nick Madrigal but was able to keep the deficit to one run after Marte threw out Madrigal trying to score which ended the inning.

Young picked up his first win of the season.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Friday, May 3 at the Tampa Bay Rays at 6:50 p.m.

Mets Call Up Top Pitching Prospect Christian Scott

The New York Mets are calling up RHP Christian Scott and will likely make his ML debut on Saturday at the Tampa Bay Rays.

Scott has 36 strikeouts in 25 1/3 innings for Triple-A Syracuse with a 3.20 ERA and 0.71 WHIP.

He has given up 12 hits and 6 walks with a 0.71 WHIP.

Scott will hopefully provide some stability to the Mets rotation as well as they need another starting pitcher due to the fact that they are the middle of playing 26 games in 27 days.

Mets Lose To Cubs 1-0 After Game Ends On Controversial Call

The New York Mets lost to the Chicago Cubs 1-0 tonight at Citi Field and dropped their record back to .500 at 15-15.

RHP Jose Butto started out well with four scoreless innings, but ran into trouble in the top of the fifth.

Butto gave up a double to DH Matt Mervis who then advanced to third on a wild pitch.

Butto then gave up a sacrifice fly to former Met prospect CF Pete Crow-Armstrong.

He had a scoreless top of the sixth and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was six innings, four hits, one run, two walks and six strikeouts.

RHP Jorge Lopez came in next and got the first two outs in the top of the seventh.

LHP Jake Diekmann had to come in to get the last out in the top of the seventh.

RHP Adam Ottavino threw a scoreless top of the eighth.

RHP Sean-Reid Foley threw a scoreless top of the ninth.

The Met offense did no do much for the first eight innings, but had a chance to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth.

2B Jeff McNeil came up with runners on first and third and one out and hit a fly-ball to left field, but 1B Pete Alonso was thrown out at home trying to score.

The play was reviewed to see if Cubs catcher Miguel Amaya was blocking the plate, but the call was upheld. 

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza came out to argue but to no avail.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Thursday, May 2 at home against the Cubs at 1:10 p.m.
