Mets Lose to Phillies 3-0 After Zack Wheeler Throws a Dominating Complete Game Shutout

Phillies RHP Zack Wheeler (Photo Credits to Wendell Cruz-USA Today Sports) The New York Mets lost to the Phildelphia Phillies 3-0 in Phidelphia to get swept their three-game series and fourth consecutive loss overall and dropped their record to 56-55. RHP Tijuan Walker got off to a tough start in the bottom of the first inning afer he gave up solo homers to 2B Jean Segura and catcher J.T Realmuto. Walker settled down after that with scoreless innings in the bottom of the second, third, fourth and fifth. He gave up another solo homer to RF Bryce Harper in the bottom of the sixth and was taken out after the inning. His final line was 6 innings, 4 hits, 3 runs, 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. RHP Jeurys Familia followed with a scoreless bottom of the seventh. RHP Trevor May then threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth. The offense got off to a good start against former Met RHP Zack Wheeler after CF Brandon Nimmo led off with a double in the top of the first. The bats didn't much after that until RF Michael Conforto walked in the top of the eighth and was left stranded at first base. They managed only two hits and one walk against Wheeler who was in complete command all afternoon. Wheeler had 11 strikeouts and 1 walk. The Mets are off tomorrow and return to action on Tuesday, August 10th at home against the Washington Nationals at 7:10 p.m.
