Mets Lose to Dodgers 6-5 In 10 innings Due to Lack of Clutch Hitting

The New York Mets lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-5 tonght at Citi Field to snap their three-game winning streak and dropped their record to 59-56.
RHP Tylor Megill got into trouble immediately in the top of the first after he gave up doubles to 1B Max Muncy and SS Corey Seager to bring in a run.
Megill had a scoreless top of the second inning, but in the top of the third, he gave up back-to-back singles to 2B Trea Turner and Muncy and then a sacrifice fly to catcher Will Smith which brought in another run.
Megill had another difficult inning in the top of the fourth after he gave up a one-out single to CF Cody Bellinger, walked RF Billy McKinney and threw a hit-by-pitch which loaded the bases.
Megill then gave up a sacrifice fly to Turner, but had a scoreless top of the fifth and was taken out after the inning.
His final line was 5 innings, 6 hits, 3 runs, 1 walk and 6 strikeouts.
RHP Drew Smith came in next in the top of the sixth and gave up a lead-off double to 3B Chris Taylor and then two batters later, a sacrifice fly to McKinney.
RHP Yennsy Diaz followed with a scoreless top of the seventh.
RHP Miguel Castro threw a scoreless top of the eighth.
RHP Edwin Diaz threw a scoreless top of the ninth.
RHP Jeurys Familia came on in the top of the tenth with the automatic runner on second and gave up a two-run homer to catcher Will Smith.
The offense was held scoreless for the first six innings, but finally came alive in the bottom of the seventh after pinch-hitter Michael Conforto doubled and then LF Dom Smith drove in Conforto with a RBI single.
CF Brandon Nimmo walked later in the inning and then a wild pitch advanced him to second and Dom Smith to third.1B Pete Alonso was then intenionally walked which loaded the bases.
Pinch-hitter Jeff McNeil came up and hit a two-run single.
Alonso came around to score on a passed ball which tied the game.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night at home against the Dodgers at 7:10 p.m.
