Mets Lose to Dodgers 2-1 In 10 Innings And Waste Stellar Outing from Taijuan Walker

Mets RHP Taijuan Walker (Photo Credits to Andy Marlin-USA Today Sports) The New York Mets lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-1 in 10 innings tonight at Citi Field for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record to 59-57. RHP Taijuan Walker had his best outing in a while with six no-hit innings, but in the top of the seventh gave up a homer to catcher Will Smith. Walker gave up a double to the following hitter SS Corey Seager, but came back to strike out LF A.J. Pollack. Walker walked the following hitter 3B Chris Taylor and was then taken out. His final line was 6.2 innings, 2 hits, 3 walks and 8 strikeouts. LHP Aaron Loup came on and and struck out CF Cody Bellinger with the based loaded to end the top of the seventh inning. RHP Miguel Castro followed with a scoreless top of the eighth inning. RHP Seth Lugo threw a scoreless top of the ninth inning. RHP Yennsy Diaz came on in the top of the tenth with the automatic runner on second and gave up a RBI double to Bellinger. The offense was held scoreless for the first three innings until the bottom of the fourth after RF Michael Conforto hit a solo homer. The bats didn't do much else after that and were 0-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. The Mets next game is tomorrow night against the Dodgers on Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN at 7:08 p.m.
