Mets Lose to Giants 8-0 after Tylor Megill gives up four homers

Mets RHP Tylor Megill (Photo Credits to Frank Frankin II-AP Photo) The New York Mets lost to the San Francisco Giants 8-0 tonight at Citi Field and dropped their record to 61-64. RHP Tylor Megill got off to a tough start in the top of the first after he gave up a solo homer to 1B Brandon Belt. Megill's struggles continued in the top of the second after he gave up a two-run homer to RF Mike Yastremski. Megill had a difficult top of the fourth after he gave up a two-run homer to RF Lamonte Wade Jr, a solo homer to Belt and a RBI single to SS Brandon Crawford and he was taken out with two outs. His final line was 3.2 innings, 11 hits, 7 runs, 0 walks and 5 strikeouts. RHP Trevor Williams followed with 2.1 scoreless innings. RHP Migeul Castro then threw a scoreless top of the seventh, but came back out for the eighth and gave up a RBI single to Belt. The offensive struggles continued and they were not able to generate many hits against LHP Sammy Long. They had three hits against Long in five hits and wasted a first and second opportunity in the bottom of the sixth. They were able to load the bases in the bottom of the ninth, but LF Jeff McNeil grounded out with two outs. The bats went 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. The Mets next game is tomorrow night at home against the Giants at 7:10 p.m.
