Mets Lose to Dodgers 3-2 And Waste Another Scoring Opportunity

Mets 3B J.D. Davis (Photo Credits to Getty Images) The New York Mets lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-2 tonight in Los Angeles for their second consecutive loss and droppd their record to 60-62. RHP Carlos Carrasco got off to a tough start in the bottom of the first after he gave up a lead-off double to 2B Trea Turner and later a RBI ground-out to 3B Justin Turner. After a scoreless bottom of the second, Carrassco gave up a lead-off single to Trea Turner in the bottom of the third and thena RBI double to the following hitter 1B Max Muncy. Later in the inning, Carrasco walked Justin Turner and then gave up a RBI single to SS Corey Seager. Carrasco had a scoreless bottom of the fifth and was taken out after the inning. His final line was 5 innings, 5 hits, 3 runs, 1 walk and 6 strikeouts. LHP Aaron Loup followed with a scoreless bottom of the sixth. RHP Trevoe May followed withh a scoreless bottom of the seventh. RHP Seth Lugo followed with a scoreless bottom of the eighth. The offense was held scoreless for the first three innings until 1B Pete Alonso hit a solo homer in the top of the fourth. The bats didn't much after the next few innings against RHP Walker Buehler until the top of the eighth when catcher Patrick Mazieka singled and then CF Brandon Nimmo reached on an infield single. 2B Jeff McNeil then struck out on a questonable pitch, but Alonso hit a slow roller to third base which Justin Turner was not able to pick up and allowed the run to score. RF Michael Conforto then walked after a 10-pitch AB and walked which loaded the bases, but 3B J.D. Davis struck out to end the inning. In the top of the ninth, they went down 1-2-3 against closer Kenley Jensen. The Mets next game is at the Dodgers tomorrow afternoon at 4:10 p.m.
