Mets Lose To Dodgers 4-1 After Offense Puts Up Another Lackluster Performance

Mets SS Jonathan Villar (Photo Credits to AP) The New York Mets lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-1 tonight in Los Angeles and dropped their record back under .500 at 60-61. RHP Taijuan Walker had a scoreless bottom of the first inning, but ran into trouble in the bottom of the second after he walked SS Corey Seager and then gave up a double to catcher Will Smith. Walker then gave up RBI ground-outs to LF AJ Pollack and RF Chris Tylor. Walker then settled down with scoreless innings in the bottom of the third and fourth innings, but in the bottom of the fifth, he gave up a single to Taylor who then advanced to third on a throwing error by 3B J.D. Davis. Walker then gave up a RBI double to pinch-hitter Billy McKinney and later a RBI single to 2B Trea Turner. Walker then had a scoreless bottom of the sixth and was taken out after the inning. His final line was 6 innings, 6 hits, 4 runs, 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. RHP Trevor Williams followed with two scoreless innings in the bottom of the seventh and eighth innings. The offense didn't do much for the first three innings until the top of the fourth after 1B Pete Alonso singled and two batters later, 3B J.D. Davis hit a RBI double. Davis then later ran himself out of the inning after he was doubled off second on a line-drive by LF Dominic Smith. The bats didn't do much after that and were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left five runners on base. The Mets next game is tomorrow night at the Dodgers at 10:10 p.m.
