Mets vs. Rockies Game 36 Recap

Last night, the New York Mets lost to the Colarado Rockies 7-4 to lose their third consecutive game. The Mets have now dropped to third place in the NL East behind the Nationals and Phillies. RHP Logan Verrett had his worst outing of the season. He gave up a season high 7 runs in only 2 2/3 innings. He gave up 10 hits and 3 walks. He had no strikeouts. Verrett was not helped by home plate umpire Carlos Torres who called a foul ball instead of a swing and miss strike 3 on Rockies catcher Tony Wolters. This led to a 2 run double with the based loaded and gave the Rockies a 5-1 lead. This bad call caused Mets manager Terry Collins to be ejected from the game and bench coach Dick Scott had to take over as manager. The offense made a valiant effort, but struggled hitting with men on base. They were 3 for 11 with runners in scoring position. Catcher Kevin Plawecki continued his torrid week with an RBI single. 2B Neil Walker hit a solo homer. 1B Lucas Duda hit an RBI double. SS Asdrubral Cabrera grounded into a double play which brought home a run. Hopefully the Mets can win today and salvage the last game of the series.
