Mets vs. Indians Game 11 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the Cleveland Indians today 6-0 to take 2 out of 3 in the series and improve their record to 5-6. The Mets were led by starter LHP Steven Matz who pitched 7 shutout innings and picked up his first win of the year. He was outstanding and gave up only 3 hits and 2 walks. He had 9 k's and showed outstanding command of his curveball, fastball, and changeup. It's a great sign that he was able to have this kind of performance. The Mets offense continued to deliver with 6 runs off Indians starter RHP Corey Kluber who was the former AL Cy Young winner in 2014. LF Michael Conforto concluded his torrid series with 2 hits and 2 RBI doubles. He has looked very comfortable in the 3 spot. 1B Lucas Duda added a 2 run single. DH Yoenis Cespedes hit an RBI double. SS Asdrubal Cabrera hit an RBI single. The Mets bullpen was strong today with 2 scoreless innings by RHP Hansel Robles in the 8th and LHP Jerry Blevins and RHP Addison Reed in the 9th. Hopefully the Mets can keep the momentum going in their next series against the Philadelphia Phillies.
