Mets vs. Braves Game 16 Recap
The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves tonight 8-2 to improve their record to 9-7. The Mets offense exploded for 8 runs and has finally started to hit with the kind of power we expected in the offseason. LF Michael Conforto hit an RBI single in the 1st inning. 1B Lucas Duda hit a sac fly. 3B David Wright hit a 2 run double. SS Asdrubal Cabrera also added 2 RBI's wuth a single and homer. Neil Walker continued his hot start with another homer, his 7th of the season. Juan Lagares topped off the scoring in the 9th with a RBI triple. The Mets got a great start from LHP Steven Matz who gave up only 2 runs in 6 1/3 innings. He gave up 9 hits and 0 walks. He had 8 strikeouts. He picked up his 2nd win of the season. RHP Hansel Robles got the last 2 outs in the 7th. RHP Addison Reed pitched a scoreless 8th. RHP Logan Verrett pitched a scoreless 9th.
